Attuned, Empathic, Biblically-Informed Care

Do you find yourself feeling ‘stuck’? Whether it’s in your own journey or your closest relationships?

Maybe you keep having big blow-ups with your spouse or perhaps feel so numb and disconnected, but can’t figure out why. You may be struggling to complete your day-to-day activities or simply not getting out of bed at all. Perhaps you’re feeling lost in a cycle of shame and over-functioning, or rather you feel so weary from pouring out to others, you long for that safe space for your own soul to be poured back into.

Whatever it is you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact in every facet of your life.

1

Struggling to eat healthy, move your body, navigate your emotions, and take care of yourself.

2

Longing to connect with your spouse or your kids, but still find yourself scrolling your phone, numbing, or checking out.

3

Constantly overwhelmed, burned out, and struggling to navigate your relationship with God in the middle of it all.

An embodied and holistic approach to therapy can help.

It may feel impossible to you now, but you can reconnect to your truest, authentic self. You can process your emotions with clarity and confidence. You can hold compassion for your innermost woundings and no longer feel as if your past is entering into your present.

I can help you get there.

Experiential, Embodied therapy can help you do 5 things:

  • Connect to a safe, empathic, attuned other and experience in your body what safety is truly meant to feel like.

  • Discover nervous system regulation skills to offer alternatives to your destructive coping mechanisms.

  • Learn embodiment practices that bless the body you inhabit: physically, emotionally, sexually, and spiritually.

  • Relate to your whole self with curiosity, compassion, courage, and calm.

  • Receive guided resources and meditations to mindfully engage with your internal and external world all through the lens of your identity in Jesus.

I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to embodied trauma therapy comes from a place of empathy and hope: believing that God has already given you the tools you need to heal; they just need to be fully harnessed and accessed within the body He has graciously bestowed on you.

FAQs

Q: What are your sessions like?

A: I provide a safe space to explore your most wounding experiences and the protective strategies born out of them in a safe, connected, supportive environment. I guide you through a moment by moment relational experience that begins healing the brain and body in real time. Transformation begins within the therapy session, extending out to your most intimate relationships and the world. I use books as reference tools, but very rarely assign ‘homework’.

Q: How long do I need to be in therapy?

A: Because I believe Christian therapy to be a form of discipleship and spiritual formation, I don’t give a direct timeline of how long therapy lasts. Healing is an ongoing process. If it’s imperative for you (especially for financial reasons) to know how long therapy lasts, I suggest giving  our time together 12-16 sessions.

Q: How do I know if an experiential and relational approach to therapy will work for me?

A: My approach delves into exploring how your individual story has shaped you. Because your body stores memory, story, and trauma, my gentle and tender guidance is tailored uniquely to how God has made you to find the healing you long for.

Q: Do you bill insurance?

A: Embodied Christian Counseling, LLC is an out-of-network provider. I am not credentialed through insurance companies and most of my clients are self-pay.

I have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. For more information, see the ‘Counseling Services’ page to see if your insurance qualifies for reimbursement.
